To cut down use of detergents

lang=EN-US The heel of a shirt or collar or sock needs to be partially washed before putting it in the washing machine. There are times when detergents are needed more than once. If this is the case, you can use a seasoning container to make a detergent bottle for a partial table. It is small and fits comfortably in one hand.

Wash once more before disposing detergent container

Detergents are usually in a box. It is common to lean this box when pouring detergents. If the detergent box is shaken and the detergent does not come out, it is generally thought that the detergent is all used up. But there is still some detergent left enough to use for laundry once more. The inside of the detergent box absorbs much of the detergent and especially detergents which are water-soluble are attached a lot. So, if you pour hot water into the box and shake it, it will be enough to do laundry once more. It is more reasonable as it can also save detergents.

Laundry method using salt

Proper amount of detergent should be put in to the washer. But if too much are put in, then bubbles may form. Then, time and electricity can also be wasted, so use salt to lessen bubbles and laundry time. Put some salt in washer to blow off bubbles and wipe out stains. This can also be used when using detergents in ktchen. And ingrained stains are better to be boiled in salt water. In this way, fabrics are not damaged as well. Put 1 tbsp of salt in 1L of water. Then put socks and white clothes in that solution to boil them about 20 minutes. And then stains are all gone. Tainted clothes with oil stains are also easily washed off when boiled with salt water.

Put the discoloring clothes in salt water.

Salt prevents discoloration, so put clothes susceptible to discoloration in salt water for 30 minutes and then wash. Put handful of salt in a basket of water and after 30 minutes have passed, clothing will not be discolored. This is especially effective for red and black clothes. For silk and wool, put 2g of neutral detergent in 1L of water and put 1 tbsp of vinegar to avoid discoloration.

Wash clothes with zippers zipped up

Skirts or suit pants with zippers should be zipped up when washed in washers. When clothes roll around in the washer, they may harm other clothes. Plastic zippers are especially vulnerable to deformation, and metals harm other clothes severely.

Never put clothing in detergent too long

People generally put laundry in the detergent solution before doing laundry. But putting the laundry in solution too long will only make stains to permeate in the solution, thereby deteriorating washability. Also, detergents generally include bleachers, so colored or patterned clothes may get bleached so be cautious. Individual laundry soaking in water is enough to be done for 1-2 hours. And if soap bubbles are insufficient during washing, people worry about washability and therefore put in more detergents. But this is very infrugal and results in environmental pollution. If there are less detergents compared to laundry, stop putting in more detergents and do laundry again.

To avoid laundry from freezing

If laundry is dried outside during cold winter times, laundry gets frozen stiff, and what’s worse, it is not dried well. During cold winter, when rinsing the laundry, put some salt in it. Then laundry does not freeze and dries well.

Bleacher odor to be solved with one or two drops of vinegar

Bleachers are often used for disinfection in kitchen and washbowl or bleaching laundry, and they leave a lot of odor. Then put some drops for vinegar on the bleached part to remove odor. And for odors of dish and clothes, also use vinegar.

Sweat stains on white shirts

White shirts are worn with all buttons closed up, so if one sweats then sweat is all absorbed to white shirts. If sweat is absorbed in white shirt, it is easily seen on the collar part. It is especially severe when the colors are blue, pink or brown. If one sweats a lot, avoid deep-colored shirts during summer, because those sweat stains are not easily erased by cleaning. Drum with brush not only collar parts but also the parts easily contaminated sweat, or spray cleaning detergents and clean after a few minutes. Put white shirt in a net bag before putting it in the washer not to damage the clothing.
Bleach a tarnished cotton handkerchief with lemon juice

White cotton handkerchiefs or shirts turn yellow when worn for too long. Put lemon juice or a piece of sliced lemon into hot water and soak the shirt in over the night, and then it gets bleached.

To wash scarf without damaging

Silk scarves easily get dirty. They get easily damaged when water-cleaned, so use benzene for washing. Pour a bit of benzene into an empty bottle of coffee or mayonnaise, put scarf in and shake off for many times. The solution can be used repeatedly, so store it for your convenience.

Prevent silk discoloration with milk

White silk blouse or scarves are tragic to be yellowed. Put a white silk clothing in milk before doing laundry to prevent discoloration. Putting in milk when rinsing will yield the same result.

Put on multiple stockings overlapped to do laundry

Several stockings done laundry together may cause mingling up. Then put stockings on hands just like gloves and wash as if washing your hands. Dry them as they are. Then they do not mingle up and washing becomes just like washing only a single pair of stockings.

To wear stocking for a long time

Stockings are not inexpensive to career women. Since stockings are very thin, they are easy to be perforated. To prevent peforation, put vinegar in warm water and soak stockings after washing them. Then foot odor is prevented and also stockings get hardened.

Hand-washing necktie as the below

If done laundry improperly, ties cannot be used again so be cautious when washing them. When ironing, iron them following the grains from the inside and when ironing the outside, avoid grains on the edge. Ties should be washed on a flat board and brushed. Do not rub or put them in washer. Gently shake while rinsing, and do not squeeze and lay them to dry.

Cleaning blouse or white shirt

Blouse or white shirts get easily messed up from the collar or the inner sleeve. So it is a must to rub the stains off on these parts. Then while all other parts of the clothing are intact, only these parts get worn out so the whole clothing becomes non-wearable. Easy way of doing laundry and preventing stains is to put shampoo on hands before hand-washing. Or if talcum powder is applied to the collar and sleeves then stains get repelled, so there is less need for rubbing the stains so it is a lot easier to keep the clothing intact. Put shampoo or shaving cream on collars or sleeves to prevent ingrained stains.

Handkerchief laundry without ironing

It is very troublesome to iron handkerchief everyday. Put the handkerchief on window or tiles in bathroom when you take bath or wash your face, then you don’t need to iron it.

Rinse rubberbands in underwear to keep them intact

Rubberbands in underwear get stretched easily due to repeated washing. It is because detergents are left on rubberbands. Therefore, rinse them off thoroughly and dry them in shades in order not to expose them in direct sunlight.

Brightening up colors of worn out jeans

If jeans look too white, then it seems only old, not stylish. To restore its color, then do laundry with the new jeans of the same type. It is to take advantage of discoloration of new jeans when they are done laundry for the first time. Wash them with warm water to get great color.

Removing stains of leather

Most of the leather products are produced by multiple times of drumming, but they often consist of tannin. Banana peel consists of tannin, so rub slippery side of the banana peel on the leather often to restore worn out leather. It is applicable not just to clothing but also all products of brown or black leather.

Handling suits and coats

Thick and furry winter clothes easily absorb dirts. You can do dry-cleaning at home rather than taking them to laundromat. Dry them in sunlight, shake off dirt and rub them with cloth soaked in detergent solution and benzene, and finally wash them off with water. Finish with ironing. First of all, take off dirts on ankles and pockets of pants. Turn them inside out, dry for an hour in sunlight, and them turn them inside out again to dry for half an hour more. Drum the suits to take off dirts, but avoid humid days and choose dry, sunny day for doing so. Take off dirts with brush and wipe off oil stains on sleeves or collars with benzene. Melt down stains with gauze soaked with benzene, and then put towel on it to absorb the stains. Wash off the entire clothing with warm water containing neutral detergent, dry them for 1-2 hours in windy place to finish up.
